Barack Obama might have gained a few grey hairs, but his hairline remains as robust as ever. While this is in part down to genetics, a major contributing factor is consistent maintenance.

Finding a good barber is not something any gentleman should take lightly. After all, you trust your appearance to this person. Obama seems to have understood this important fact a long time ago.

In fact, the former president has been getting a weekly haircut from the same barber for almost 20 years. The barber, a Chicago native, works at Hyde Park Hair Salon, a barbershop where celebrities from Muhammad Ali to Spike Lee have gotten haircuts.

The First Dog Was A promise To His Daughters.

Barack Obama made a lot of promises during his first election campaign, but none more important than one he made to his young daughters. He had assured them that he would get them a puppy once he won the election.

A good father, he made sure to keep his promise. And just months after settling into the white house, he got the girls a male Portuguese Water Dog, which they named Bo.

He Has Won 2 Grammy Awards So Far

Former US President Barack Obama has won two Grammy Awards so far, both in the ‘Best Spoken Word Album’ category. He won the awards for his memoirs’ Dreams from My Father’ in 2006 and ‘The Audacity of Hope’ in 2008.

Notably, both the Grammys were won by Obama before being elected as the President in 2009. With Obama venturing into production with his wife, it will not be a shock if he soon bags a third.

From The Onset, Obama Was Very Focused on His Political Goals 

In the early 90s, Harvard law professor, David B. Wilkins, advised Obama to become a Supreme Court clerk, but the former president politely declined.

Instead, he told the professor that he wanted to write a book about his life and his father, go back to Chicago, get back into the community, and run for office there. In 1995 he published his first book, Dreams of My Father.

In 1996, he was elected to the Illinois Senate representing the 13th district, and this was the start of his political career all the way to the top.

Barack and Michelle Obama Landed a Netflix Production Deal 

The Obamas signed a multi-year deal in 2018 to produce scripted and unscripted series, documentaries, and feature films for the giant streaming service, Netflix.

This was the first such deal of any former president. So far, they have released, three projects including an Oscar-nominated documentary, American Factory. Through their production company, Higher Ground Productions, the power couple now has over ten projects in the works.

Barack Obama Topped the List of ‘World’s Most Admired’

Former president and first lady Barack and Michelle Obama topped the “world’s most admired” list for men and women in a 2020 YouGov poll.

The poll was the largest yet and involved over 45,000 respondents from 42 different countries. Barack Obama ended Bill Gates's six-year run as the world’s most admired man since YouGov first started collecting data in 2014.

This is after Obama’s time in office, showing that the former president's charismatic nature still holds among people across the world.

After Leaving the White House, Obama Visited Some of the Most Exotic Locations Imaginable.

After leaving the White House in January 2017, the former president and his family took a well-deserved break and made the most of their vacation time.

It started off with a tropical tour of billionaire Richard Branson’s private Necker Island. They then headed to French Polynesia to check in to The Brando, an exclusive island resort that can only be reached by boat or two-engined Air Tetiaroa planes.

A few months later, they took a six-day vacation in Tuscany, Italy, where they stayed at a luxurious villa. This was followed by visits to Bali, Indonesia, with his daughters. You can’t blame the man; after eight years, in what is arguably the toughest job in the world, the break was long due.

Dubbed the best-dressed president since JFK by GQ, the former leader of the free world kept it shockingly simple by exclusively black and navy Hart Schaffner Marx suits with a simple tie and exchanging 4 of the same pair of black shoes in size 11!

When asked why he wore the same suit, he said, ‘I’m trying to pare down decisions. I don’t want to make decisions about what I’m eating or wearing. Because I have too many other decisions to make.” This was in an effort to avoid decision fatigue, whereby mental energy is drained away when someone has to make too many decisions.

Obama Throughout The Years Has Placed Great Value on Health and Fitness

The former president managing to squeeze in workouts every morning at 7 a.m despite his hectic schedules. His daily 45 minutes of exercise, six days a week was a non-negotiable in his routine.

He also had the tennis court at the White House adapted into a basketball court and found time to shoot hoops whenever he could. If his latest photos are anything to go by, even after leaving the white house, he’s been keeping fit. 

Obama was The “First” In Several Things

While most people Know Brack Obama as the first African-American president, he was the first to accomplish several other feats. For example, the first-ever African-American president of the Harvard Law Review.

Obama was also the first sitting U. S. president to speak to the British Parliament, visit Hiroshima, Japan, and visit Cuba in 88 years to re-establish diplomatic relations. And the list does not end here, showing that the former president was not afraid to venture off into uncharted territories.
